Young at Heart Group

14 members enjoyed a lasagna dinner on Dec. 14th.  We sharpened our minds with a game about the small towns around Jamestown, Chuck Painter led us in carols, and we enjoyed some catch up conversation.  Everyone left with a bag of snowman soup.  Another fun evening.  We are looking forward to a sleigh ride at Chautauqua in January if the weather cooperates.

High Calling

by Evelyn Husband

“This was Rick’s dream.  It couldn’t be ending.  Not today.  Not like this.”

February 1, 2003.  A light flashed over a Texas sky, and twisted metal rained across the countryside.  As images of the wreckage from the Space Shuttle Columbia streamed across the country’s television screens, they became forever burned into our memories.  But behind those images were stories that remained untold...until now.

This story, High Calling, is the stirring portrait of Rick Husband, commander of the Space Shuttle Columbia.  In these pages his widow, Evelyn Husband, leads you on Rick’s journey – from a childhood dream, through the heart of the American space program, and into the vastness of space itself.

As you experience the events leading up to the final, tragic moments of the Columbia, you’ll be inspired by the faith of Rick Husband.  For it is his faith that powerfully transforms this account of heartbreaking loss into a very different story – one of courage, hope, and triumph.

The Many Loves of Marriage

by Thomas & Nanette Kinkade

Romance is only the beginning…

“We had a wild, romantic love from the start, and while we’ve fought hard to maintain that love, we’ve discovered many other loves worth celebrating…an enduring love, an exploring love, an attentive love, a sharing love, a spontaneous love, a sheltering love…and a beacon of love that unites us in a life purpose bigger than ourselves.”

Thomas and Nanette Kinkade share personal secrets of multiplying love. Follow along and discover how one love opens the door to another – and another and another!  Not just for marriage relationships (as the title suggests), this book can be beneficial to any and all relationships.
