Someone Has To Pop the Corn

By Ann Kindie Sheetz, author of

“Born Again…But Still Wet Behind the Ears”

Here is a delightful look at small-town America.  Ann Sheetz tells tales of getting out the news each Thursday, the down-home folks, town meetings, and the challenge of keeping up with job, home, husband, and two rambunctious boys.  But what will linger longest in your mind and heart is the inspirational true story of how Christ became the undisputed focal point in the lives of one “average” middle-American family.

23 Minutes in Hell

by Bill Wiese

Bill Wiese saw the searing flames of hell, felt total isolation and experienced the putrid and rotting stench, deafening screams of agony, terrorizing demons, and finally, the strong hand of God lifting him out of the pit.

Today in our society, warnings serve to protect us from harm.  Warnings are posted on everything from toothpaste to real estate.  What loving parent does not warn his or her children not to play in a busy street?  When the sky turns dark and the winds increase, we look to our local news channel to communicate tornado or hurricane warnings, blizzard and ice storm warnings, flood  warnings, etc.

So why is it that when God warns us of what will happen if we travel down the wrong road, we are quick to say that He is unloving and condemning?  The Truth is that He warns us because He is a good God, and wants us to choose to spent eternity in heaven with Him.

A team of scientists and researchers endured incredible hardship to reach a site many would rather avoid – the Alaskan Wilderness – and in the process, uncovered unfossilized dinosaur bones.  The implications are enormous, for haw can dinosaurs be 65 million years old if their bones are still unfossilized?

Join the team and thrill at the photographs and tales of danger as The Great Alaskan Dinosaur Adventure drops a bombshell on the scientific community.

Why Lincoln stood

When it came time for the pastoral prayer at the church Abraham Lincoln attended, the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, in Washington, D.C., the president stood up. Because most of the worshipers remained seated, someone asked the president why he stood. The president responded, “When my generals come into the Oval Office, they stand for their commander-in-chief. Isn’t it proper then, that I stand for my commander-in-chief?”

Sunday School News

Sr. High Sunday School Class

We have been exploring the reality of heaven and hell.  The movie “Evidence For Heaven” gives us a glimpse of heaven from the perspective of a lady who died and went to heaven, then came back to life.  The book 90 Minutes in Heaven tells of a man who died in a car accident, and after 90 minutes in heaven, God sent him back to earth to tell people what heaven is like.

In another true story, a man spent 23 minutes in hell, then came back to life to warn people of the terror of that place and how to be sure they do not go there.

We are working on illustrations of our own personal lives from the time of our own beginning to the place where we personally accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, or deny Him and go our own way.

We also continually reinforce the fact that the Bible is true, cover-to-cover, and that truth is absolute, not relative.

Pray for our teens as you have never prayed before.  They face challenges of monumental dimensions.

A Lesson for Dr. Fosdick

Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick was a preacher, scholar and teacher who served Riverside Church in New York City in the first half of the 20th century. While walking one day, he stopped to talk with a young woman and her 4-year-old daughter. As the conversation drew to a close, the preacher told the little girl to tell her father that she had spoken to Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick.

The child responded by saying, “Tell your mother that you talked to Susie Smith.”
